Today's high only reached 22.9° this afternoon, making it the coldest day (yet) of the winter season.  Had to go back to January 20th of this year to find a day where the high temperature was colder (at 22°) than today!

Temperatures are in the mid 20's here in Cookeville to start this morning!  We have 1.5" of snow on the ground here at my home.   It is almost like picture postcard in our backyard.

We will go through a slight warming trend for the weekend as highs will reach 50° on Saturday and 54° on Sunday.  Rain moves in on Sunday night.

Temperatures as of this post (6:50 am) are hovering around 28° here in Cookeville.  We've been below freezing since midnight.  So, any plants that aren't freeze resistant are probably going to die.

For the past three days we, here in Nashville, have been experiencing near freezing temperatures in the mornings, with highs in the 40s. It happens like this almost every year. We have a warming trend, and it becomes too much to carry around my big jacket that kept me warm during the winter, and so I ditch the jacket. Then we have another cold snap and I end up running around town in t-shirts.

The warming trend will continue on Monday as we expect low 70s for highs on the heels of a strong south to southwesterly breeze (15-25 mph), and some peaks of sunshine. We’ll still keep about a 20% chance for a stray shower in the forecast, but the real rain chances don’t come until [...]

We'll see lows drop into the single digits for many across the Cumberland Plateau region of Tennessee tonight. 10:00 pm observations show several stations between 11 and 12 degrees. See latest observations across Tennessee here.

It has been, by far, the coldest weather yet this season. It will also eclipse our coldest weather in 2007, which was 12.7 degrees. By the way, our high in 2007 was 102.7 on August 16th!
