i don’t talk about it much, but depression is something i’ve fought with most of my adult life. it usually comes and goes in seasons, and like a lot of people, it typically gets worse around the holidays.

All the daytime talk shows these days are talking about how to deal with the financial crisis. I am so tired of hearing about the "secrets" to saving money - using cash, not buying a car every two or three years, using coupons, shopping sales - the list goes on and on.

Usually the Sentinel warns a month or so in advance that paper will be shrinking or taking stuff away. But the warning came Friday--with the 5$ gas, that their newstand price would be 75 cents today. For the first time in my adult life I may not be a loyal newstand buyer anymore.
