Metro Councilman Jim Gotto today asked Metro's internal auditor to "conduct a full-scale audit" of two city agencies related to the theft of laptop computers containing sensitive voter information.

Hello fellow constituents! I am just in from the two (2) meetings on Security for the Metro Schools and the Election Commission. The meetings were held live on Metro 3 channel. Here’s the scoop and what I proposed. Let me know your thoughts, suggestions and concerns.

Update on Security for Metro Schools

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 2, 2008) – The Mayor’s Office today has directed all Metro departments to conduct a full scale data security audit and report back to the director of Information Technology Services by Friday, Jan. 11.

Several other actions have already been taken as a result of the burglary at a Metro office building during the holidays.

On Thursday, January 3rd, at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber, I will attend the Council Public Safety Committee meeting that have requested the attendance of Ms. Nancy Whittemore, Director of General Services, Ms. Sandy Cole Director of Information Technology Services and Mr. Ray Barrett, Director of Metro Election Commission.
