Today’s photo is simply called ‘Hope’. When Hurricane Gustav hit the coast a few months ago thousands of people were evacuated to Nashville. I spend some time in a shelter one night taking photos for the Red Cross. The people there had an amazing amount of Hope for such a devastating event.

I got an email from my buddy Brad at Catalyst. The Catalyst Vanagon is on a road trip and drove through the Baton Rouge area shortly after Hurricane Gustav ripped right through. Since it was not a hurricane of “Katrina” proportion, the media let it die pretty fast.

As I stated earlier, several crimes committed in and around MTSU have been perpetuated by refugees who fled the Gulf Coast in search of safety from Hurricane Gustav.

It should be noted that these individuals make up only a small percentage of those who are here from the Gulf; it is by no means representative of the entire group.

Over the past few days, I have reflected on the generosity and kindness of others. Most noticeably, Americans have dug deep into their pockets to help out the people of coastal Louisiana and Mississippi on two seperate occasions recently - in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina and just a few days ago in the wake of Hurricane Gustav.
