On our last night together in Uganda, Compassion International’s last team of traveling bloggers sat around a table and processed what we’d just experienced together.  There was a lot of laughter, a lot of questioning, a lot of encouragement and a lot of promises.

I got an email from my buddy Brad at Catalyst. The Catalyst Vanagon is on a road trip and drove through the Baton Rouge area shortly after Hurricane Gustav ripped right through. Since it was not a hurricane of “Katrina” proportion, the media let it die pretty fast.

This Politico article ("Palin’s cold shoulder - Kenneth P. Vogel") actually enhances Gov. Sarah Palin's maverick reputation, in my estimation, but you need to read the entire article.

Yesterday at Philadelphia Biblical University (92 kids sponsored, by the way!) Ben and I had dinner with the director of student life.  She asked me if there was a place I love to play more than any other.  ”Texas A&M,” I answered without hesitation.  She seemed a little surprised so I explained why.

This is one of the most exciting times of the year for me. It’s the first NFL weekend! Not only is it the first NFL games of the year but it also kicks off the highly anticipated Fantasy Football season.

but i do have to admit. i don’t like much meat but I LOVE BACON. i mentioned this to our new programming director, dave, the other day, who recommended i watch this jim gaffigan video on bacon. it is so true.

Ever wonder what happens when the men’s ministry gets a hold of a hog for 12 hours? I’m looking forward to spending some time with the guys today from 11-1 at Cross Point. Footbal, a hog, and Chris Sanders (former Titan). What more can you ask for?

after a pretty heavy post on the sabbath yesterday, i thought i’d share something happening in my own church.

this pig is for real.  the men at cross point church will be eating this very pig tomorrow at a tailgating party thing.  no girls allowed.  which is fine, because i would probably throw up if i saw this thing in person.

Christian chicken has crept all the way up the map to Philadelphia.  Thank you, Jesus.  Amen.  I needed me some chicken and egg bagel power this morning.  My body thinks it’s an hour ago and I’m just not awake enough for the job I get to do this morning.  Oh, how I miss you Coca-Cola products of every invigorating caffeinated variety.
